BitGo, OTC Markets to offer tokenized securities to 150 broker-dealers

BitGo, OTC Markets to offer tokenized securities to 150 broker-dealers

BitGo and OTC Markets plan to integrate digital asset custody and trading into existing broker-dealer infrastructure, accelerating institutional adoption of tokenized securities.

BitGo and OTC Markets Group are planning a partnership that would give more than 150 broker-dealers direct access to tokenized securities. The proposed alliance would allow these firms to quote, trade, and settle digital asset securities through OTC Link ATS, a US Securities and Exchange Commission-regulated alternative trading system. Initially, the framework will support digital asset securities, with plans to expand into tokenized assets and commodities as regulations permit.

The operational design targets a major friction point for institutional adoption by removing the need for broker-dealers to build or adopt entirely new crypto-native systems. BitGo Bank & Trust will act as the qualified custodian, while the company’s Go Network will facilitate settlement. Participants can therefore execute digital asset trades using the exact same electronic infrastructure they currently use for traditional over-the-counter and US equity markets.

This integration is made possible by BitGo’s newly acquired regulatory standing. In December, the US Office of the Comptroller of the Currency granted BitGo final approval to operate as a federally chartered national trust bank. This status allows the firm to offer qualified custody services under strict federal banking oversight, arriving as US regulators move toward clearer rules for digital asset markets.

Investors responded positively to the announcement, pushing OTC Markets Group’s stock up 2.7% to $53.50 by midday Wednesday on thin volume. For the broader market, the tie-up represents another step in the financial industry's effort to tokenize real-world assets. Analysts at Bernstein project that the market for tokenized assets could reach $4 trillion by 2030, fueled by adoption across equities, commodities, and other financial instruments.

The proposed venture intensifies competition to modernize capital markets infrastructure. BitGo and OTC Markets join financial players like Securitize and Cantor Fitzgerald, which are working to introduce tokenization to initial public offerings and follow-on equity sales. As traditional exchanges and brokerages race to capture this market, Bernstein analysts have identified tokenization and prediction markets as the next "battleground" for the industry.
