Zhongji Innolight Raises $6.8 Billion in Hong Kong IPO to Fund AI Expansion

The world's largest optical interconnect supplier raised $6.8 billion in Hong Kong to expand its global footprint, underscoring sustained investor appetite for artificial intelligence infrastructure despite pricing slightly below expectations.

Zhongji Innolight has raised HK$53.4 billion ($6.8 billion) in its Hong Kong initial public offering, pricing shares at HK$980. This final price point settled just below the maximum indicated range of HK$1,010, reflecting a cautious but solid market reception.

The transaction marks the second-largest listing in Asia this year. It trails only the $8.6 billion Shanghai debut of Chinese memory-chip manufacturer CXMT.

The company, which maintains a primary listing in Shenzhen, produces essential hardware for artificial intelligence data centers, cloud computing environments, and high-speed networking. According to its prospectus, citing consultancy CIC, Zhongji held a 21.2 percent share of the global optical interconnect solutions market by revenue in 2025, making it the sector's top provider.

Investor demand remained robust across both tranches of the offering. The Hong Kong retail portion attracted orders approximately 16.8 times the available shares. Meanwhile, the international tranche saw subscriptions at 9.7 times the total offering size.

For global technology investors, the successful listing highlights continued capital allocation toward the physical infrastructure underpinning the artificial intelligence boom. As chipmakers and cloud providers scale their operations, the demand for reliable optical interconnects has become a critical investment opportunity.

Zhongji intends to deploy the newly raised capital to accelerate research and development. The company will also use the funds to expand its overseas production capacity and fortify its supply chain.

Management indicated the proceeds will further support potential acquisitions. This strategic deployment of funds signals an aggressive push to maintain market leadership as demand for high-speed networking hardware scales globally.

The slight discount to the maximum indicative price suggests that institutional investors are carefully valuing growth prospects against current market volatility. Nevertheless, the strong oversubscription rates demonstrate that the underlying thesis for AI hardware suppliers remains highly compelling.
