Sotefin Bharat raises ₹89.76 crore ahead of BSE SME listing

Automated parking provider Sotefin Bharat priced flat in the grey market after closing its ₹89.76 crore initial public offering at nearly four times oversubscription, signaling muted early demand ahead of its trading debut.

Sotefin Bharat Ltd is set to finalise share allocations for its initial public offering on July 21, with equity shares scheduled to begin trading on the BSE SME platform two days later. The automated parking solutions provider raised ₹89.76 crore through an entirely fresh issue of 48 lakh shares, pricing the stock at the upper end of its ₹178 to ₹187 range.

The book-building process drew a mixed demand profile from different investor classes, closing at a total subscription of 3.99 times. Non-institutional investors demonstrated the strongest appetite for the issue, bidding 6.05 times their allocated portion. Retail individual investors subscribed 3.78 times their reserved quota, while qualified institutional buyers logged a subscription of 2.82 times.

For market participants, the demand metrics present a contrast to the stock's expected trading premium. Despite the issue being nearly four times oversubscribed, unlisted grey market activity indicates a highly muted reception. The shares are commanding a premium of just Re 1 in the grey market, implying an estimated listing price of ₹188 per share. This translates to a marginal 0.53 percent premium over the upper issue price, suggesting that secondary market traders expect the stock to debut flat.

A flat listing typically indicates that the IPO pricing was efficient and left little immediate arbitrage opportunity for speculative investors. In the context of the BSE SME segment, where newly listed stocks often see significant first-day volatility, Sotefin Bharat’s constrained grey market premium points to a more sober institutional valuation of the automated parking sector's near-term growth prospects.

Choice Capital Advisors managed the book-running process for the issue, with Bigshare Services appointed as the registrar. The company will credit equity shares to the demat accounts of successful allottees on July 22, simultaneously initiating refunds to unsuccessful bidders. Eligible investors can verify their allocation status directly through the BSE website or the registrar's online portal.
