Bitcoin ETFs log longest inflow streak since May on $227M day
US spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded their longest consecutive inflow streak in nearly three months, signaling a potential easing of the heavy selling pressure that has plagued the funds this year.
US spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds attracted $226.9 million in net inflows on Monday, extending their positive run to a fifth consecutive session. This marks the longest sustained period of capital entering the funds since a six-day stretch that ended in early May, according to data provider SoSoValue.
The sheer volume of Monday's tally was notable on its own, representing the strongest single-day inflow since July 6. Over the course of the five-day winning streak, these products have accumulated approximately $727.3 million in new capital.
For portfolio managers and institutional investors tracking the space, this accumulation is significant because it has effectively trimmed the year-to-date net outflows for US spot Bitcoin ETFs to below the $5 billion mark. The funds have spent much of the recent period grappling with heavy redemptions. Overcoming that prolonged divestment phase requires consistent daily inflows, making this current streak a crucial inflection point for fund managers monitoring sentiment.
The inflow surge aligns with a broader price recovery in the underlying asset. Bitcoin gained 3.3% over a 24-hour period to reach $65,879, according to pricing data from CoinGecko.
However, analysts advise against interpreting the flow data as an immediate signal that major institutional buyers are returning to the market in force. Simon-Peter Massabni, head of business development at XS.com, said the recent inflows suggest "selling pressure may be easing rather than signaling a broad return of institutional demand."
The immediate test for the cryptocurrency will be whether it can maintain its current footing above key technical levels. Massabni noted that Bitcoin needs to break and hold above the $65,000 to $65,500 range to build a convincing case for a sustained uptrend. While the asset has momentarily cleared that specific price band, market professionals will closely watch the ETF flow data in the coming sessions. Sustaining the inflow momentum is necessary to confirm whether this streak marks a structural bottom for the funds or merely a temporary reprieve in a longer period of consolidation.
